School Fees

We are committed to making our educational offerings affordable and available to all families, regardless of their background and financial means.

And so, we rely on a contribution from families, in the form of school fees, to allow us to offer high quality educational services.

Our annual fees include all tuition, books, stationery and excursions etc.  The only additional cost for families would be uniform, overnight camps and optional extra-curricular activities.

Payment of school fees can be tailored to suit individual family circumstances, and can be paid either weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly or annually, via direct debit, cash, cheque, credit card, Bpay, Centrepay and direct deposit. Generous remissions are offered for low income families, and discounts are applied for each subsequent sibling enrolled with us.

If we are your choice of school but you feel that the fees are a concern for your family's budget, please phone, email or see us in person and we will work with you to make our school a genuine and affordable option for your child.

We will not deny an enrolment based on a family's stress to not be able to meet fee commitments, however, we do ask that families make some contribution towards fees, as they are able.  In these situations, we can arrange a confidential meeting between the parents/guardian and our Principal and Business Manager.

Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about fees or enrolment at Our Lady of Hope School.

OUR LADY OF HOPE NEWSLETTER - Term 2 Week 10 2023

A Word from the Principal

Dear Families,

I'm convinced the school terms continue to get faster!

Last week it was tremendous to read the Semester One Reports. There is much to celebrate with many children obtaining results that reflect their commitment to their studies. Likewise, it also encouraging to witness the growth of a number of children who courageously provide amazing grit and resilience despite known learning challenges. I continue to be insired by our young people! A massive thank you to our staff for their dedication to our children and to our families for your loyal support of our work together.

Next Term, a number of identified staff will be working with RYPPLE (Raising Young People in Positive Learning Environments) in introducing our school community to the Positive Behaviour Interventions & Support program (PBIS).  Initially, we will be identifying the behaviours which we need to explicitly teach to our children and ensure we have a clear understanding of these expectations. This model comfortably supports the work we are undertaking with Life Buoyancy Institute  as we work towards building a wellbeing and trauma resonsive school environment where every person thrives.

On behalf of the staff, I wish you wonderful time with your family during the holiday break.  I trust that you are able to enjoy space and time together doing the things that make your family unique and special. For those travelling, please stay safe and return to us refreshed on Tuesday 25th July.

Kind regards

Paul

Religious Dimension

Sacramental Program

On Saturday 3 June 2023, students from Our Lady of Hope School celebrated the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy Communion with the Vicar General Fr. Dean Marin, Fr. Josh and Fr. James at    St. David's Parish. Congratulations to our students on receiving your Sacraments on such a beautiful day.

May God's love be always in your heart to strengthen you along life's way.

Community Outreach

A significant value at Our Lady of Hope School is empathy. Early next term we will be seeking the support of our families with the following events:

  • Casual Day: Thursday 27th July - Raise funds for St Vincent De Paul
  • Support for Vinnies: We are seeking your generosity in providing food donations for Vinnies on the 4th Students may wear their Sports Team colour top as each House Team constructs a creative model with the food items.

Learning Dimension

Distribution of Semester One Reports:

It appears that all families have received their child’s Semester One reports via email. It has been pleasing to hear from a range of families that the process worked smoothly and there have been advantages of receiving the report directly to home and sharing the document with grandparents etc. We extend our thanks to all families for their patience as we undertook a new process for Our Lady of Hope School. Please feel welcome to arrange to meet with your child’s teacher/s in Term 3 if you would like to discuss elements of your child’s Semester One Report.

Staffing

  • We wish Mrs Van Ta and her husband every blessing as they prepare for the arrival of their bub. May their lives be enriched as a family and may they feel blessed by a loving and caring God. We welcome Teagan Caruso to OLOH who met the children last week when she visited our school and commenced a handover with Van.
  • Next semester our two new Reception Classes will be staffed by Sarah Walsh, Lisa-Marie Ennis and Melissa Baluch. We formally welcome Melissa to Our Lady of Hope and trust that her time with us is enjoyable and fulfilling.
  • We are sad to say goodbye to Mrs Angela Zviedrans who has been successful in obtaining another teaching position. We also express our appreciation to Mrs Pat Kirkenaar and Mrs Kat Kingsberry who have undertaken a Term’s contract in C18. Next term Mrs Kingsberry will be undertaking a day release in C15 and ½ day in C17 & C3 for Semester 2.
  • We welcome Donna Eeles back to OLOH in Semester 2.  We look forward to her quickly immersing herself back into our OLOH community and enriching our Administration Team.

Master Plan

Nick and Lana from Swanbury Penglase Architects have commenced the initial Master Plan designs of the school site of Our Lady of Hope School. We anticipate that early next term we will be in a position to show the features of the broad location of learning areas, play spaces and administrative buildings. It is obvious that the feedback from children, staff and families has been incorporated in the dynamic design created thus far. Exciting times ahead!

Uniform Review

The School Board are seeking broad consultation with our school community regarding a review of our current school uniform.  A link will be provided to staff, children and families so that we can obtain your feedback.

Capital Works

Over the holidays we expect to have the STARS Classroom and Counselling Room placed into position in front of the Parish Centre. There will also be a verandah and deck added to this space. Likewise, a deck will be built in front of C5–C7. Our main staff car park will also have the trees trimmed during the first week of the holidays.

New Volunteer Induction Session

If you have any queries about your current volunteer status or would like to start the process of becoming a volunteer at OLOH please contact the Front Office staff on 8289 8344 or email mmcgrath@oloh.catholic.edu.au

Admin Staff

Lost Property

There are a large number of items in the Lost Property cupboard located in the Front Office.  The items include: school uniform woollen jumpers, sports windcheaters, drink bottles, lunch boxes and miscellaneous items.  Can you please remember to label everything and if you have purchased an item of secondhand uniform, please relabel it with your child's name.  PLEASE NOTE: Some items will be passed back to the Uniform Shop for resale, drink bottles will be thrown away and lunch boxes in good condition will be washed and passed onto Vinnies to find a new home.  Other items will be disposed of as they haven't been claimed for an extended period of time.

Canteen News

All Qkr App orders need to be submitted by 8:30 am.  There are two menus:  a Mon./Tues./Wed. option and a Thurs./Fri. option (link below).   Please remember that you can order in advance and on recurring days.  This will be particularly helpful with the much earlier cut off time.

As always, volunteers are welcome and if you have a spare hour or more especially on a Wednesday or Friday, give me a call on 8289 8448.  If you are volunteer trained, have all the relevant clearances, are double vaxed and can spare some time (even 15 minutes makes a huge difference), I'd love to see your smiling faces!

If your child receives an emergency lunch, please pay for it via the GPS Qkr App under the Monies Owing section.  The Qkr App is not a personalised system for each student so please just pay the relevant amount for the order.

The Canteen Price List for Term 2 2023 can be found on the link below.

Natalie Cotton, Canteen Manager

PLEASE NOTE: if your child receives an emergency lunch order due to not having any lunch and we are unable to contact you (sometimes we are not notified until the last minute), your child will receive lunch from the Canteen from a limited menu and you will need to pay via the Qkr App for GPS Canteen under the Monies Owing section.  The amount isn't logged against your child's name, you just need to pay the amount.

Cooking with Room 3

"Wondering how to get your kids to eat vegetables?"  Get them involved in the cooking process! It worked for the Receptions in Room 3.

They made vegetable stir fry with rice noodles this week and they LOVED them so much many went back for seconds and even thirds!

School Calendar

Families are able to access a ‘live’ calendar at the following locations:

  • Szapp tiles
  • OLOH Website ‘News & Events’ tab – School Calendar
  • OLOH online newsletter

A paper copy is static and doesn’t allow us to make alterations should circumstances change. Whilst it is our intention to eliminate date changes, should they be necessary, we will communicate these to families via Szapp/Seesaw.

OLOH Playgroup

Recently at Playgroup, we excitedly launched our 'Paint Playgroup REaD' initiative and introduced our Book Swap Boxes!

Catholic Education SA have partnered with 'Paint the Town REaD' to launch 'Paint Playgroup REaD'. This initiative is promoting the importance of reading from birth - by providing take-home books and encouraging families to read to the littlest members of our community.

We are excited to be part of this wonderful program and look forward to hearing about how our Playgroup children are sharing in the love of reading with their families.

The children arrived in their pyjamas, ready for a morning of snuggling up and reading a good book.

They thoroughly enjoyed our activities that accompanied the books on display. The Three Little Pigs, Row-Row-Row Your Boat, The Wheels on the Bus and Teddy Bears' Picnic were very popular as always.

Mr Bennett paid a visit with his friend Milo - some of the children were unsure of Milo but as their confidence grew, they were interacting and chatting away with him.

We finished our session by singing Rock-A-Bye Your Bear whilst Mr Bennett played his guitar.

It was a wonderful Playgroup session full of reading, singing, rhyme & rhythm...Can't get much better than that!

At Playgroup this week the children enjoyed using all the sports equipment. They practised bouncing, balancing, jumping, rolling, throwing and tumbling skills. The balance beam and rocking board were extremely popular, with children discovering some new skills.

We acknowledged NAIDOC week with some wonderful Indigenous books and beautiful native animal puzzles to explore. We read the lovely story - How the Birds Got Their Colours.

We look forward to seeing everyone when Playgroup returns in Week 1 of Term 3, Thursday 27th July.

On this day we will be joining the school in celebrating Pyjama Day.

Bern and Ali,

Playgroup Facilitators
